There are 4,000 acres of famed South Texas ranch behind this gate. On it, we have approximately 15 tower stands set up along scenderos and 4 ground blinds that overlook planted food plots. This is called still hunting and it's how we take most of our deer.

We use other popular techniques too, though. Both 'spot & stalk' and rattling work very well during specific times of the year when the rut is going strong.

Basically, we do whatever it takes to get you on that big buck that you're after. Every hunter will be accompanied by a guide to help field judge the size and age of each deer. This is standard practice and how we've been able to sustain our trophy herd. Our goal is to harvest 6 1/2 year old deer.

We run 3 types of hunts on the Bar Z:

Management Buck Hunt - this hunt is for a mature 8 or 9 point buck (age 5 1/2 years or older) up to 140 inches B&C or less. most of our management bucks are very large 8 or 9 point deer.

Trophy Buck Hunt - This hunt is for a mature deer (6 1/2 years or older) up to 159 inches B&C. On our ranch, this is what we consider to be a trophy class deer and the kind that most of our hunters take every year.
